2015

Official launch of CMCU, First loan approved

Churches Mutual was formed in February 2015 in collaboration by the Church of England, the Church of Scotland, the Methodist Church of Great Britain, the Church in Wales and the Scottish Episcopal Church.

2016

£1m in member savings, £1m in member loans, United Reformed Church and Roman Catholic Church join

2017

1,000th member joins, £3M in member savings, £3M in member loans

We’re really proud that we’re able to offer our members some of the lowest loan rates on the market. Visit our loan page to find out more

2018

Methodist Church reach was broadened

The common bond was extended to include employees and trustees of Methodist schools and charities, including Methodist Homes. This brought eligibility for membership to approximately an additional 10000 individuals and their household members.

2022

2,000th member joins, Marketing and Communications (MarComs) Campaigns commence

Our first social media campaign was launched alongside a new website, which after the challenges the Covid pandemic brought about, were an important part of growing CMCU

£14M in loans disbursed, CMCU celebrates 10 years!

We’ve achieved so much we’re proud of in the last 10 years, but there’s so much more we could be doing and we are excited about our journey in the next 10 years serving Christ’s servants
